Born in Toronto and moved to Vancouver at age 2 and grew up there (loves west coast). Parents own construction company in Vancouver, 'Marino General Contracting'
Started playing at age 10 with father and brother (says that made it lots of fun). Brother was on rowing team at Cal Berkeley (on rowing team), while uncle was gold medalist for Canada in rowing at 1964 Tokyo Olympics
Best shots are serve and forehand; favorite surface is hard; favorite tournaments are all Canadian ones and US Open
Best tennis memories are first Top 100 win in Québec City and qualifying for main draw at 2010 US Open
Likes watching movies and hockey (supports Vancouver Canucks)

Career in Review

Best result of 2023 came on grass reaching quarterfinal at Birmingham (as qualifier, l. Zhu). Made 2r at Auckland (l. Bonaventure), Monterrey (l. Zhu), Miami (l. Gauff), Madrid (l. Mertens) and Osaka (l. Mandlik) falling out of the Top 100 by year-end.

At 2022 Washington DC, advanced to first WTA QF in nearly four years (as qualifier, l. Saville)

Made further QFs at Granby (l. Kostyuk) and Chennai (l. Linette), and reached three ITF Circuit finals, winning title at W60 event in Arcadia, CA

On July 11, 2022, returned to Top 100 after a decade-long absence

At 2021 Australian Open, won first main draw match at a Slam since 2011 Wimbledon (d. Birrell in 1r, l. Vondrousova in 2r)
