No.127-ranked Zeynep Sonmez, 22, captured her first Hologic WTA Tour title at the 2024 Merida Open Akron. Sonmez became just the second Turkish player ever to lift a WTA trophy (after Cagla Buyukakcay at Istanbul 2016), and the result enabled her to make her Top 100 debut the following week.
