Ruzic defeats teenage wild card Samson in Merida first round
Antonia Ruzic came from a break down in the second set to defeat 16-year-old wild card Laura Samson in the first round of the Merida Open Akron. Both players were contesting their second WTA main draw; on their debuts earlier in 2024, Ruzic made the Monastir quarterfinals and Samson the Prague semifinals.
