Defending champion Pegula defeats Stearns to reach Toronto semifinals

No.3 seed Jessica Pegula held off fellow American Peyton Stearns 6-4, 7-5 in the National Bank Open quarterfinals on Saturday night. Pegula, who came back from 5-2 down in the second set, is into her fourth straight semifinal at the tournament.
