Pliskova bests Podoroska in Toronto; faces defending champion Pegula next
Former World No.1 Karolina Pliskova beat Nadia Podoroska 6-4, 7-6(10) in the National Bank Open first round, saving three set points in the tiebreak. Pliskova will next meet defending champion Jessica Pegula -- they played five times in 2021 with Pegula holding a 4-1 edge.
