Qualifier Wang Yafan battled past 2020 Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin 7-5, 7-6(3), in the first round of the National Bank Open on Tuesday. Wang, the World No.72 from China, will now have her first career meeting with No.1 seed Coco Gauff in the second round.
