Begu bests Rus in Palermo to make first WTA quarterfinal in 14 months
Irina-Camelia Begu, the 2022 Palermo Ladies Open champion, returned to the quarterfinals with a straight-sets defeat of No.5 seed Arantxa Rus. The Romanian advanced to her first tour-level quarterfinal since Madrid 2023, and first since making her comeback from an elbow injury in March.
