Four years before they would meet in the 2023 Roland Garros final, Karolina Muchova and Iga Swiatek played in the first round of the 2019 J&T Banka Prague Open. No.106-ranked wild card Muchova defeated No.95-ranked qualifier Swiatek in three sets, and went on to reach her first WTA final.
