Madrid: Pavlyuchenkova saves match point, beats Jimenez Kasintseva
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova won her first tour-level match since the 2022 Australian Open in a three-set first-round thriller at the Mutua Madrid Open over 17-year-old wild card Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. Pavlyuchenkova led 4-2 in the second set, 5-3 in the third and 6-3 in the deciding tiebreak, but needed to save one match point before closing out victory.
