Career in Review

Opened 2023 well with two R-Up performances on hard court at Lyon (l. Parks) and Monterrey (l. Vekic), as well as QFs at Adelaide and Doha. Went on to reach a further seven QFs throughout the season across all three surfaces, bringing a total of nine QFs (Stuttgart, Berlin, Eastbourne, Cleveland, San Diego, Tokyo and Beijing).

Her strongest WTA 1000 result of 2023 came with SF at Guadalajara (l. eventual winner Sakkari), and qualified for year ending Zhuhai Elite Trophy for a third time (also in 2016 & 2018), defeated by eventual champion Haddad Maia in group stage.

Served highest number of aces of all players in 2023, with a total of 462 (nearest challenger was Rybakina with 455).

Returned to form in second half of 2022, winning four tournaments, including a run through qualifying to Cincinnati title (d. Kvitova in F) and victory at WTA Finals in Fort Worth (d. Sabalenka in F)
