- Father is Tony; mother is Dianne; brothers are Daniel and Dominic... Friend introduced her to tennis at age 8; was given a racquet for Christmas and started hitting with brother Daniel, loved it from the first time... Tennis idol growing up was Steffi Graf... At 2011 US Open, d. S. Williams to become first Australian woman to win a Grand Slam singles title since Evonne Goolagong Cawley at 1980 Wimbledon; in 2010, was runner-up to Schiavone at Roland Garros... Also won four women’s doubles majors, two with Lisa Raymond (2005 US Open, 2006 Roland Garros) and two with Zhang Shuai (2019 Australian Open, 2021 US Open)... With Raymond, won the WTA Finals in 2005 and 2006 and finished 2006 as doubles co-No.1... Three-time mixed doubles champion at the Slams... In Billie Jean King Cup play, registered most singles wins for Australia (29) and in December 2023 was appointed captain of the national team... Has two daughters, Genevieve and Emmeline, with partner Liz Astling.
