Was 23 when she played the Virginia Slims Invitational at Houston in 1970, thereby becoming a member of the Original 9... Career haul of 22 singles titles highlighted by her home Slam, the Australian Open, in 1977; a further 40 finals included the Australian Open in 1970, and in 1972 both the US Open and the Virginia Slims Circuit’s first season finale (now the WTA Finals)... A singles Top 10 regular throughout the 1970s, she also won three doubles majors, including Wimbledon in 1978 with Wendy Turnbull... Married Grover "Raz" Reid, a World Team Tennis Boston Lobsters teammate, on 27 April 1975 in Greenville, South Carolina... Named a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in 1979... After settling in South Carolina, raised two daughters, Kati and Kimi... Inducted into Australian Tennis Hall of Fame in 2014 and International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2021, as a member of the Original 9.
