Match Notes

Caroline Wozniacki has lost two previous singles finals in Auckland and both her conquerors are play today. Last year, the Dane lost to Julia Goerges and in 2015 she was beaten by Venus Williams.

Venus also knows what it's like to be runner-up here having lost to Ana Ivanovic in the 2014 final while Goerges lost the 2016 final against Sloane Stephens.

Wildcard Lauren Davis is another former champion in action, she defeated Ana Konjuh to win the title in 2017.

Amanda Anisimova, at 17 years old is the youngest singles player in the field, while Venus Williams, aged 38, is the oldest. Venus had already won Wimbledon twice and the US Open by the time Anisimova was born on August 31, 2001.
