Petra Kvitova holds a 3-0 career head-to-head record against Ashleigh Barty.
The pair have already met this year, Kvitova winning a classic battle in the final of the Sydney International, 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(3).
No.8 seed Kvitova is aiming for her first Grand Slam semifinal since she won Wimbledon in 2014.
Barty is seeking to become the first Australian woman to reach the semifinals in Melbourne since Wendy Turnbull in 1984.
Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Danielle Collins have never met before.
Pavlyuchenkova will play in her fifth Grand Slam quarterfinal. She has lost all of her previous four, including a 2017 loss in Melbourne to Venus Williams.
This is Pavlyuchenkova's13th visit to the Australian Open. She has been beaten in three sets in nine of her previous 12 outings here.
Collins, who is playing her first Australian Open, has never reached this stage of a major previously.
