Mari Osaka has twice played in a WTA doubles main draw - most recently with her sister at the 2017 Toray Pan Pacific Open - and ended last season with a run to an ITF Pro Circuit final in Florence, South Carolina, where she finished runner-up to rising Canadian star Bianca Andreescu.
Joining Osaka in the main draw are two of last year's junior Grand Slam singles champions in Roland Garros winner Cori Gauff and US Open champion Wang Xiyu.
Gauff outlasted Catherine McNally to win her maiden junior major title in Paris. Mcnally, along with Moscow River Cup champion Olga Danilovic, 2017 junior Roland Garros winner Whitney Osuigwe, Wang Xinyu, and Natalia Vikhlyantseva round out the main draw wildcards.
The Miami Open also announced five qualifying wildcards, including former World No.24 Christina McHale, former World No.58 Beatriz Haddad Maia, Allie Kiick, Zheng Qinwen, and WTA Future Star Karmen Kaur Thandi.
