KARLSRUHE, Germany - The resurgence of Patricia Maria Tig continued on Sunday at the Liqui Moly Open Karlsruhe, as the Romanian won her first-ever WTA 125 series title with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over No.2 seed Alison Van Uytvanck.
It is the fourth victory over a Top 100 player for the Romanian in the past three weeks, as she returned to WTA level following a nearly two-year hiatus due to injury and pregnancy with a run to the final of the BRD Bucharest Open.

Tig did not drop a set across her first four matches of the week, beating No.8 seed Barbora Krejcikova, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Ekaterine Gorgodze and Jasmine Paolini, before rallying from a set down to see off the No.2 seed.
Tig led by a break early in the first set at 2-0, but lost six of the next seven games to the World No.65, only to sprint away with the next two sets and the title.
The Romanian won six straight games to win the second set, and later saved the only break point she faced across the second and third sets at 1-1 in the third en route to winning the last four games.
Tig, unranked at the start of the BRD Bucharest Open three weeks ago, will soar another 75 places into the Top 150 in Monday's update.
In the doubles final, top seeds Lara Arruabarrena and Renata Voracova also rallied to win the title, as they came from a set down to defeat Han Xinyun and Yuan Yue, 6-7(2), 6-4, 10-4.
