ST. PETERSBURG, FL, USA - The WTA announced today that a new and innovative electronic line-calling system developed by FoxTenn, Real Bounce Extreme Accuracy, has been approved for use on hard courts. WTA tournaments will be able to select FoxTenn as a provider from January 2018.
The new In/Out calculation system captures images of the ball at the moment of impact using synchronised cameras and laser scanners located on the surface of the court. The ultra-high speed system analyzes up to 2500 images per second.
"After an essential testing period, we’re satisfied the FoxTenn system meets our criteria of accuracy and reliability," said Matt Cenedella, WTA Chief Operating Officer. "We constantly strive to improve the accuracy of line calling and this new technology provides an additional level of data and state of the art analytics for the betterment of our sport.”
