As the Race heads to Stuttgart, Iva Majoli gives advice on who you should pick for The Porsche Race To Singapore Challenge.

IVA MAJOLI'S PORSCHE TENNIS GRAND PRIX PICKS

Angelique Kerber

“Angelique Kerber has to be one of the favorites – she’s a two-time champion at the Porsche Arena, loves to perform in front of the German fans, and this year has really being showing the kind of form that took her to No.1. A strong Fed Cup weekend would set her up well.”

Simona Halep

“Simona Halep has produced solid results in Stuttgart, reaching the semis in two of the past three years. Obviously she’s No.1 thanks to her results over the past year, and I’m sure playing well at Stuttgart is important to her as she looks ahead to Roland Garros.”

Elina Svitolina

“Elina Svitolina has won two Premier events already in 2018, at Brisbane and Dubai, and she’s just so solid in all areas now. She’s had some excellent results on clay too, and I can see her working her way through the tough field at Stuttgart in her self-contained way.”

Garbine Muguruza

“Garbine Muguruza has proved she can win big on clay and she has the weapons to make the most of the indoor conditions at Stuttgart as well. Winning the title at Monterrey a couple of weeks ago should be a boost to her confidence, although she’ll need to get past a deeper field this week.”

Looking to take a chance on your picks? Check out Iva Majoli's sleeper picks:

Sleeper: Julia Goerges

“Julia Goerges won the title in 2011 and loves to play Fed Cup at home, so we know she can perform in Stuttgart. As well as winning three titles in a row a few months back, she’s coming off the final at Charleston and I think topping up her confidence there could mean another great week in front of local fans.”

Sleeper: Petra Kvitova

“Petra Kvitova enjoys playing indoors and she’ll have the benefit of playing the Fed Cup semis against Germany to get used to the conditions. It’s just incredible that she is back in the Top 10 less than a year after the attack and she seems both relaxed and more determined than ever.”

Sleeper: Karolina Pliskova

“Karolina Pliskova seems like a bit of an underdog at the moment but she’s a top player who is always in with a shot. She seemed to surprise herself by reaching the semis at Roland Garros last year and it will be interesting to see if she can carry the good vibes about clay to this year’s swing.”

Sleeper: Kiki Bertens

“Kiki Bertens, another former French Open semifinalist, just won the biggest title of her career at Charleston, and in fact all five of her titles have come on clay. It will be interesting to see how she handles any extra expectations she might now be feeling after that great result.”
