ZHENGZHOU, China - A pair of compatriots will square off in the final of the Biyuan Cup Zhengzhou Women's Tennis Open for the second year in a row on Sunday, after No.4 seed Wang Yafan and unseeded Zheng Saisai scored a pair of contrasting semifinal victories.

World No.98 Wang earned a three-set victory over No.6 seed Yanina Wickmayer, 6-2, 3-6, 6-2, before Zheng followed her into the final with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over another compatriot in Han Xinyun.

Neither player had made a WTA final in singles prior to this week, and the result for the pair also marks their first singles final at WTA 125 Series level.

Though both players are looking to win a title in singles, they have tasted success in WTA finals in doubles previously.

Combined, the pair has five titles on the doubles court, and Wang raised a trophy this year already alongside Duan Ying-Ying at the Taiwan Open in February.

Ranked World No.172 coming into her first tournament of the season, Wang has shaved nearly 100 places off of her ranking since January.

The 23-year-old came to Zhengzhou off of a magical run at the Miami Open, where she qualified for the main draw and made it all the way to the fourth round.

At the Premier Mandatory event, she found herself a set away from the quarterfinals before falling to former World No.1 and two-time Grand Slam champion Angelique Kerber.

Regardless of the result in the final, Wang will rise to a new career-high ranking on Monday of No.86, and could rise as high at No.75 with a win.

Wickmayer did find semifinal success in doubles, as she and partner Naomi Broady advanced to the final by virtue of a 7-6(2), 6-4 win over Lu Jia-Jing and Junri Namigata.

Wang and Duan had previously advanced to Sunday's final with a match tiebreak victory over Han and Vera Zvonareva on Friday.
