Serena Williams's husband Alexis Ohanian has praised his wife as as the 'greatest of all time' - while discussing the influence she's had on his own fitness regime.

The 35 year-old investor and entrepreneur, who married Williams in 2017, told Men's Health that his wife is 'too serious' to work out with him - but he doesn't mind.

"The nice thing is, she's the G.O.A.T. [greatest of all time], and I don't work in her industry — it's obviously not a competition, because she won," he said. "I find it both liberating and motivating. I'm free to be the best me, and she's free to be the best her."

However, Alexis says his inability to compete with his wife's physical ability does not stop him from trying to impress her.

"I'll flirt with her from across the gym," he said. "But she'll just roll her eyes. It's always the same thing. I'm sure she's tired of it by now. She hasn't said anything - she indulges me."

Williams gave birth to her first child with Ohanian last September, and since then has been on the road back to full fitness. The 23-time Grand Slam champion was forced to withdraw from the French Open with a pectoral muscle injury prior to a scheduled clash with old rival Maria Sharapova - but is hopeful of making her return to action at Wimbledon after her coach Patrick Mouratoglou said she should be ready to compete at the All England Club in July.
