Wimbledon 2018 seeds: Halep top, Serena 25th

LONDON, UK - World No.1 Simona Halep is the top seed for this year's Wimbledon - with former champion Serena Williams seeded 25th on her return to the Championships following maternity leave.

Defending champion Garbiñe Muguruza is seeded third, with last year's runner-up Venus Williams seeded ninth.

US Open champion Sloane Stephens is the highest American player, seeded fourth; and Australian Open champion Caroline Wozniacki is seeded second.

2004 champion Maria Sharapova is seeded 24th, with two-time champion Petra Kvitova seeded eighth as she hopes to continue her current impressive winning streak on grass.

British No.1 Johanna Konta - who beat Halep in the 2017 quarterfinals before falling to Venus, 6-4, 6-2 - is seeded 22nd.

The main draw matches begin on Monday July 2, with the women's singles final on Saturday July 14.
