CHICAGO, IL, USA - Second seed Petra Martic eased into the final of the Oracle Challenger Chicago after a comfortable 6-1, 6-2 victory over World No.70 Tatjana Maria.

The Croat, 27, dropped just three games in her last-four encounter and is yet to drop a single set this week as she seeks a first WTA title. Victories over Jamie Loeb, Sesil Karatantcheva and Varvara Lepchenko preceded her semifinal success on Saturday, and she now goes on to face another German, Mona Barthel, in the final.

The earlier semifinal was called off after home favorite Sachia Vickery was forced to retire with an injury to her left knee. Barthel was handed a walkover victory and the 28-year-old hopes to add to her four previous WTA titles. She has already tasted success in Chicago this weekend, taking the women's doubles title alongside Kristyna Pliskova on Saturday afternoon as the pair beat home players Asia Muhammad and Maria Sanchez 6-3, 6-2.

Victory for Barthel came after she was taken the distance in the opening two rounds before overcoming Dayana Yastremska in straight sets in the last eight.
