It's time to decide who will be the WTA Coach of the Year 2018!

The winner will be announced December 4. Selection and nominations are determined solely by registered coach peer-voting.

Here are the nominees:

Darren Cahill
WTA Registration: N/A

  • Has worked with Simona Halep in 2017 and 2018
  • Helped Halep win her first Grand Slam at the 2018 French Open
  • Halep has ascended to World No.1 in the rankings since working with Cahill, and has been crowned Montreal and Shenzhen champion in 2018. Her 2018 final appearances include Australian Open, Rome, Cincinnati

2018 WTA Tournament or Off-Court Involvement:

  • Cincinnati – Media Day

Kamau Murray
WTA Registration: Gold Coach

  • Three-year working relationship with Sloane Stephens
  • Stephens followed strong 2017 that saw her rise from No.957 in the world to the Top 20 and win her first Grand Slam at the US Open with another strong finish with a Miami Open title and finals in Roland Garros, Montreal and Singapore
  • Sloane reached career high ranking of No.3 in 2018

  • Stuttgart – Sponsor clinic
  • Madrid – WTA Media
  • Montreal – WTA Media
  • Founder of XS Tennis and Education foundation in Chicago, which played host to Chicago’s first professional tennis event in 2018 with its inaugural WTA 125k series tournament

Wim Fissette
WTA Registration: Gold Coach

  • Worked with Angelique Kerber during the 2018 season, making an immediate impact following a disappointing 2017 by winning Sydney
  • Kerber won her first Wimbledon title working with Fissette
  • Kerber returned to the Top 5, after ending 2017 outside of the Top 20

  • Doha – Meet and greet with federation coaches

Thomas Drouet
WTA Registration: Gold Coach  

  • Worked with Timea Babos for over four years
  • Helped Babos improve her singles ranking from 125 to a career high of 25
  • In 2018, Drouet helped Babos achieve a World No.1 doubles ranking
  • With Mladenovic, Babos won the 2018 Australian Open and Eastbourne, while also making the finals in Madrid and the US Open

  • Cincinnati – Media Day

Sascha Bajin
WTA Registration: Gold Coach

  • Started working with Osaka at the start of the 2018 season
  • In his first year as a head coach on tour, Bajin has helped Naomi Osaka climb from No.68 to start the season to a career-high of No. 4
  • Osaka became the first Japanese player, male or female, to win a major singles title at the US Open this year
  • Osaka also became the lowest ranked player, youngest (since Wozniacki at 2010 Beijing) and the first Japanese woman to win a Premier Mandatory-level title at 2018 Indian Wells
  • Immediately after winning the US Open, Osaka made a strong run in Asia making the final of Tokyo and semifinal of Beijing
