Victoria Azarenka released a statement on social media which suggested she could miss the US Open due to family issues.

The former World No.1, 28, announced her pregnancy in July 2016, and gave birth to a baby boy, Leo, in December.

"Shortly after Wimbledon, Leo’s father and I separated and as we work to resolve some of the legal processes, the way things stand now is that the only way I can play in the US Open this year is if I leave Leo behind in California, which I’m not willing to do," she wrote.

Following her maternity leave, Azarenka returned to the tennis court at this year's Mallorca Open, and also reached the fourth round of Wimbledon before losing to Simona Halep.
