Mexican hope Zarazua defeats American teen Urhobo in Merida opener
On home soil, No.1 seed Renata Zarazua of Mexico kicked off her Merida Open Akron campaign with a 7-5, 6-2 first-round victory over 17-year-old wild card Akasha Urhobo of the United States. Rising teen Urhobo acquitted herself well in her WTA main-draw debut, but Zarazua prevailed in 1 hour and 39 minutes.
