Seven years after debut, China's Gao defeats Wei for first tour-level win
Seven years after making her WTA main-draw debut at Nanchang 2017, Gao Xinyu won her first tour-level match by defeating Wei Sijia in a clash of Chinese qualifiers in the first round of the Thailand Open Hua Hin. Gao, 26, extended her 2024 win-loss record to 33-13 and her head-to-head against Wei to 3-0.
