Lys dethrones defending champion Mertens in seesaw Monastir three-setter
Eva Lys upset No.1 seed and two-time defending champion Elise Mertens in the Jasmin Open second round, notching her fourth career Top 50 win. Lys lost eight of the first nine games to go down 6-1, 2-0; won the next 10 games to lead 4-0 in the third set; lost six of the next seven to trail 6-5; then wrapped up victory in the tiebreak.
