Mayar Sherif came from a set and 5-3 down to defeat Lauren Davis in 3 hours and 15 minutes in the first round of the Mutua Madrid Open. The result was the 2023 Madrid quarterfinalist's first tour-level win since Cincinnati 2023 last August.
