MATCH POINTS

Caroline Wozniacki is seeking to become the first player to win the China Open on three occasions.

The former WTA World No.1 has won her last 16 sets at the tournament.

This is the first time she has faced Katerina Siniakova since Beijing last year. She won 6-2, 6-2, on that occasion. She has a 3-1 career head-to-head record against the Czech, improving to 3-0 on hard courts.

Alison Riske and Naomi Osaka have played only once previously. That match ended with the Japanese retiring while trailing by a set in a Madrid qualifier back in 2016.

Bianca Andreescu and Jennifer Brady are familiar foes from the ITF Tour, where the American won their last meeting last year. Andreescu won in their only previous WTA Tour meeting, which took place on carpet in Quebec in 2017.

The last time Andreescu lost a completed match was Acapluco on March 2, when Sofia Kenin got the better of her, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. The Canadian No.1 has lost only two other completed matches in 2019.

Andreescu has lost only twice to players from the USA when she has taken the court on the WTA Tour. By contrast, she has won 14 times.

This will be the first time Ekaterina Alexandrova and Daria Kasatkina have played.

Kasatkina is seeking to make her first quarterfinal since St Petersburg in January. The last time she got to the last eight of a tournament outside of Russia was Wimbledon in 2018.
