INDIAN WELLS, CA, USA -- Viktorija Golubic's remarkable run of form at Indian Wells continued on Tuesday, as the 14th-seeded Swiss player became one of 12 qualifiers for the BNP Paribas Open main draw following a 6-4, 6-3 win over No.6 seed Katie Boulter of Great Britain.
Last week, Golubic won the WTA 125K Series event in Indian Wells for her biggest title since 2016, saving a match point in the final against Jennifer Brady in the process. Golubic moves into the main draw on an eight-match winning streak, seven of which have come in the California desert over the last week-and-a-half.
Golubic was placed in the main draw against Barbora Strycova of the Czech Republic. The winner of that match will face World No.2 Simona Halep of Romania in the second round.

There were mixed fortunes for Golubic's compatriots in the final qualifying round. No.3 seed Stefanie Voegele put another win on the board for Switzerland with a 6-2, 7-6(4) win over former World No.5 Sara Errani.
But former World No.9 Timea Bacsinszky, the No.19 seed, was upset by rapidly rising 17-year-old American wild card Catherine McNally, 4-6, 6-0, 6-4. McNally, who won the biggest title of her career at the Midland Challenger earlier this month, was one of Golubic's victims at the Indian Wells event last week.

Meanwhile, it was an unfortunate turn of events for 2009 BNP Paribas Open champion Vera Zvonareva as the former World No.2 retired while trailing Christina McHale of the United States, 6-0, 2-0. Zvonareva has pulled her post-motherhood ranking all the way up to World No.80 and was seeded fourth in the qualifying draw.
Australia's Priscilla Hon, who ousted No.1 seed Anastasia Potapova in the opening round, knocked off another seeded Russian on Tuesday, No.13 seed Veronika Kudermetova, 6-4, 6-2. Another Russian fell when No.9 seed Zhu Lin of China outlasted No.15 seed Anna Blinkova, 4-6, 6-4, 7-5, after two hours and 40 minutes of play.

It was only Natalia Vikhlyantseva who flew the flag for Russia in the winner's column on Tuesday. The No.17 seed moved past No.5 seed Dalila Jakupovic of Slovenia, 7-6(2), 6-1.
In other final-round qualifying results, No.10 seed Zarina Diyas of Kazakhstan defeated American Nicole Gibbs, 7-6(4), 7-5, Ysaline Bonaventure of Belgium overcame Poland's Iga Swiatek, 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, and No.20 seed Kateryna Kozlova of Ukraine upset the No.2 seed, Sara Sorribes Tormo of Spain, 6-1, 7-6(6).
Finally, Japan went 2-0 on the day, adding two more players from their country to compete in the BNP Paribas Open main draw alongside defending champion and World No.1 Naomi Osaka.
First, No.22 seed Nao Hibino defeated 11th-seeded Sorana Cirstea of Romania, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Later, No.23 seed Misaki Doi became the final main-draw entrant when she won the last qualifying match of the day, 7-6(2), 7-5, over former US Open semifinalist Yanina Wickmayer of Belgium.
