MATCH POINTS
Barbora Krejcikova and Katerina Siniakova beat Elise Mertens and Aryna Sabalenka 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in their only previous meeting, in the round of 16 at this year's Australian Open. That is also Mertens and Sabalenka's only other tournament as a pairing.
No.1 seeds Krejcikova and Siniakova became the first team in 15 years to win the French Open and Wimbledon in the same year when they pulled off the feat last season. Those results led them to be named the 2018 WTA Doubles Team of the Year.
Krejcikova and Siniakova both rose to co-World No.1 for the first time on October 22, 2018, when they debuted at the top spot together. 22-year-old Siniakova currently holds the World No.1 doubles ranking individually, with 23-year-old Krejcikova right behind her at World No.2.
Siniakova has won five WTA doubles titles in her career, while Krejcikova has won three. The Czechs were also a dominant team in juniors in 2013, winning the French Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open together during that amazing season.

This is just Mertens and Sabalenka's second tournament together, along with the 2019 Australian Open where they lost to Krejcikova and Siniakova. They beat No.2 seeds Timea Babos and Kristina Mladenovic in the first round of this event.
Mertens is currently ranked World No.11 in doubles and has won six WTA doubles titles in her career, four of those coming last season. Sabalenka, ranked World No.65 in doubles, is seeking her first WTA doubles title in only her second doubles final.
