Michael Joyce has announced that he has ended his association with WTA World No.81 Eugenie Bouchard.

A former coach of Maria Sharapova and Johanna Konta, Joyce had taken the Canadian under his wing October 2018, helping her back into the Top 100 of the Rankings.

Bouchard and Joyce first teamed up in Luxembourg, where the former WTA World No.5 progressed impressively to the semifinals only to be edged out by Julia Goerges.

The result propelled the Canadian No.2 back into the Top 100 and a satisfactory start to 2019 saw her climb as high as WTA World No.72. However, she has since lost her last three singles matches, including a first-round qualifying defeat to Nao Hibino in Miami.

Posting on his Twitter account, Joyce announced on Friday: “Genie and I have mutually decided to end our professional relationship at this time. I wish her all the best.”

Bouchard is presently recovering from injury and has yet to pass comment on the split.

The former Wimbledon runner-up has worked with a number of coaches over the past two years, including Harold Solomon, Robert Lansdorp and Martin Sinner.

As her rehab continues, Bouchard has not been in action during the clay court season, with her last match that Habino loss in Miami.
