Since the Australian Open, Marketa Vondrousova has the best record on tour at 27-5. The 19-year-old is into her third final of the year, after finishing runner-up in Budapest and Istanbul. She has reached the quarterfinals or better in every event she's played since Melbourne.

Vondrousova is the first teenager to reach a final at Roland Garros since Serbia's Ana Ivanovic in 2007. In 2017, eventual champion Jelena Ostapenko turned 20 on the day of her semifinal victory.

Miami Open champion Barty is bidding to win her second title of the season, and is also contesting her third final as she finished runner-up to Petra Kvitova in Sydney.

Vondrousova improved to 15-2 on clay this season with her semifinal victory over Johanna Konta. She tallied 14 main draw wins across all surfaces in the entire 2018 season.

The teenager has not lost a set en route to her first major final. The last player to reach the French Open final without losing a set? Her fellow Czech lefty, Lucie Safarova in 2015.

Barty moves up to World No.3 by reaching the final, would be the highest WTA ranking by an Aussie since January of 1985, when Wendy Turnbull achieved that ranking.

She can move to No.2 with the title, would be highest ranking by an Aussie since December 1976, when Evonne Goolagong Cawley was World No.2.

The pair have played twice previously, with Barty winning in two tight sets each time. Their last meeting came on the lawns of Birmingham a year ago, with the Aussie winning, 7-5, 7-6(1). They have never played on clay.
