NEW YORK, NY, USA - World No.11 Sloane Stephens is to reunite with former coach Kamau Murray ahead of this year's US Open, which begins next week.

"Happy to be back with Kamau - excited for the next couple weeks," the American wrote on social media a week after announcing her split from Sven Groeneveld, with whom she had worked for three months.

Stephens first began working with Murray at the end of 2015, and over the next three years enjoyed the most successful period of her career to date, capping a dazzling return from a 10-month hiatus due to a foot injury with her maiden Grand Slam crown at the 2017 US Open and backing it up with the Miami title and a runner-up finish at Roland Garros the following year. Murray did not accompany Stephens to this year's Australian Open, and later in January announced that he would begin coaching Olympic gold medallist Monica Puig.

Stephens, whose partnership with Groeneveld initially resulted in a successful clay season highlighted by a semifinal showing in Madrid and a Roland Garros quarterfinal run, has compiled just a 1-3 record since Wimbledon, and this week fell out of the Top 10 for the first time since March 2018.
