Two-time Grand Slam champion Garbiñe Muguruza traded in Adidas for couture as she hit the red carpet at the 90th annual Oscars on Sunday night.

Muguruza worked the red carpet in a stunning black dress by Hannibal Laguna with heeled sandals to match at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.

The former Roland Garros and Wimbledon champion revealed on social media that she'd be wearing a dress designed by her fellow Spaniard for the biggest night in film when the two met in late February.

Following the ceremony, the World No.3 also bumped into another elite athlete - and got to hold one of the coveted gold statues for the first time. Kobe Bryant, fresh off his Best Animated Short win for 'Dear Basketball' - a film based on a poem the former Lakers star wrote in 2015 about his impending retirement from the sport - posed with Muguruza on their way out of the Dolby Theatre, and she got the chance to hold his Oscar. "It's very heavy," she commented afterwards.

The Spaniard has been rubbing shoulders with Hollywood's elite in the days leading up to the Oscars, documenting her adventures with WTA legend Billie Jean King and 'Battle of the Sexes' star and Oscar-winner Emma Stone on social media.

The trio attended a pre-Oscars soiree organized by WME Entertainment earlier in the week.

Muguruza was not the only elite athlete to grace the red carpet on Sunday night, as skiing champion Lindsey Vonn also made an appearance, fresh off a bronze medal in the women's downhill at the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.

The World No.3 is set to compete at the BNP Paribas Open, the first WTA Premier Mandatory event of the season, this week. The event begins in Palm Springs on Monday.
