Match Points

The Williams sisters have met 28 times previously. Serena leads Venus 17-11 and has won eight of their last nine meetings, most recently the Australian Open final last year.

It will be the Williams sisters' earliest meeting in a tournament since their first match, a straight-sets victory by Venus in the second round of the 1998 Australian Open.

Venus has never been beyond the semifinals here, losing to eventual champions on both occasions, Martin Hingis in 1998 and Serena in 2001.

Caroline Wozniacki has more main draw singles match wins at Indian Wells (31) than any player left in the tournament. But the Dane is still some way short of Lindsay Davenport's overall record of 47.

Wildcard Danielle Collins, who is World No.117 and beat 2017 US Open finalist Madison Keys here, is starting just her second full WTA year.
