EASTBOURNE, Great Britain - World No.1 Simona Halep will warm up for Wimbledon at the Nature Valley International in Eastbourne once again, the tournament has announced.

The Romanian made her Eastbourne debut last year, when she rebounded from her Roland Garros final defeat to reach the quarterfinals, losing to Caroline Wozniacki - before going on to reach her third quarterfinal at SW19. A rematch with the Dane could be on the cards this year, as the World No.2 has also entered the event.

"I loved my first year competing in Eastbourne at Devonshire Park and I’m hoping to progress even further this year," Halep said. "The depth of draw the Nature Valley International attracts every year makes it the perfect lead-up event to Wimbledon."

Tournament director Gavin Fletcher added: "We are delighted to have Simona returning to Eastbourne for the Nature Valley International. She has played some of the most entertaining tennis on the WTA Tour so far this year, so it's great to give our fans the opportunity to see the world's top female player battling it out for the trophy."

A Wimbledon semifinalist in 2014, Halep has won one grass title to date - 's-Hertogenbosch in 2013, where she beat Kirsten Flipkens in the final two weeks before the Belgian would reach the final four at Wimbledon herself.
