LONDON, Great Britain - Three former Wimbledon finalists took to the lawns of Roehampton on Tuesday to begin their journey back to the main draw at the All-England Club, and two of them enjoyed passage into the second round.

2014 finalist Eugenie Bouchard won the first nine games of the match en route to defeating China's Zhu Lin, 6-0, 6-2, while 2010 runner-up and former World No.2 Vera Zvonareva defeated Eri Hozumi, 6-2, 6-3.

However, 2013 runner-up Sabine Lisicki was not as fortunate as her counterparts in first round action, as the German returned to the tour after a three-month absence due to a foot injury and fell to Anna Kalinskaya, 6-4, 7-6(3).

Elsewhere around the grounds, youth reigned supreme as 15-year-old Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk scored a 6-3, 6-3 victory over American Lauren Davis, while 18-year-old defending Wimbledon girls' singles champion Claire Liu advanced to the second round of women's singles qualifying after France's Amandine Hesse retired trailing, 6-0, 2-0.

Joining Liu in the second qualifying round is another former junior champion, the 2015 winner in Sofya Zhuk, who defeated Valentini Grammatikopoulou, 6-3, 6-2.

The Russian exacted a measure of revenge on the Greek No.2, who beat her 6-1, 1-6, 7-6(6) in French Open qualifying last month.

Kosytuk's compatriot and 2016 girls' runner-up, 18-year-old Dayana Yastremska, also enjoyed a straightforward first round win with a 6-2, 6-3 triumph over No.10 seed Magdalena Frech, while American 19-year-old and No.6 seed Caroline Dolehide scored a 6-0, 7-6(3) win over Miyu Kato.

Frech was the only Top 10 seed to fall in the first round of qualifying. No.3 seed Sara Sorribes Tormo bounced back from a first set bagel to defeat compatriot Paula Badosa Gibert, 0-6, 6-3, 6-4, and No.8 seed Mona Barthel came from a set down to oust Hungary's Fanny Stollar, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4.
