Crowned champion of the final edition of the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, Elina Svitolina added another season-ending title to her resume thanks to your votes: October Player of the Month.

The Ukrainian entered the WTA Finals as the No.6 seed in the White Group, and won all three of her matches to win the group. She first snapped a seven-match losing streak against Petra Kvitova, before defeating both Karolina Pliskova and Caroline Wozniacki in three sets.

From there, she defeated Kiki Bertens in three sets in the semifinals, and came from a set down to beat Sloane Stephens 3–6, 6–2, 6–2, to claim the biggest title of her career.

After winning her last four matches of the event in three sets, she rose to World No.4 - just one spot off her career-high ranking.

"I worked my way into the match, into the tournament, and this really shows that I can play great tennis and definitely gonna bring me lots of confidence," she said after the win.

"I think I have nothing to prove anymore to anyone."
