GSTAAD, Switzerland - Fondue one day, chocolate the next. Fresh from seeing fellow player Anett Kontaveit gain inspiration for her campaign with a cheesy trek up the Alps, Kiki Bertens has followed suit - trying her hand at chocolate-making.

The Dutchwoman, No.2 seed at this week's tournament, enjoyed a praline-making experience at Charly’s, a patisserie and tea room on the main street in the Gstaad village. After trying her hand at making and setting her favorite white chocolates, the 25-year-old then took her creations out to the street for the Swiss public to sample.

"It's always nice to do something for the tournament and making chocolate is the best thing you can wish for!" she said. "My favorite is white chocolate so I was very lucky. I just tried it and it's unbelievable. The trickiest part was not to let them drop and me making a mess in the kitchen!

"I have to share them with my fellow players, because if I eat it all it's not going to be good!"

Kontaveit's earlier travails helped inspire her to a comfortable victory in competition the following day, so Bertens may hope for similar results as she prepares to take on German qualifier Anna Zaja on Thursday for a place in the last eight.
