Timea Babos and Andrea Hlavackova have clinched the fifth doubles spot at the BNP Paribas WTA Finals Singapore presented by SC Global, leaving just three more spots remaining.
The Czech Republic’s Hlavackova and Hungary’s Babos are both returning to the WTA Finals, making their debut as a team. Hlavackova’s highlight in three previous appearances is reaching the title match in 2012 (partnering with countrywoman Lucie Hradecka), while 2017 marks a third career appearance for Babos.
This season, Babos and Hlavackova have clinched three titles - at the Grand Prix de SAR la Princesse Lalla Meryem in Rabat, Coupe Banque Nationale presentée par IGA in Quebec City and the Tashkent Open - and were also runners-up at the Mutua Madrid Open. In Grand Slam play, the pair reached the quarterfinals at the US Open.
Babos and Hlavackova will join Martina Hingis and Chan Yung-Jan, defending
champions Ekaterina Makarova and Elena Vesnina, Ashleigh Barty and Casey Dellacqua
and Lucie Hradecka and Katerina Siniakova in Singapore.
