Into the main draw on a protected ranking following a foot injury last year, former Top 35 player Zhu Lin of China reached the second round of the Lexus Nottingham Open with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Aliaksandra Sasnovich. This was Zhu's first WTA main-draw match -- and win -- since Wimbledon last year.
